Terms of Use
These are the basic terms for using the Homer's Odyssey app.
1. The text
The original translations in the app — Samuel Butler (1900), Butcher & Lang (1879), and A. T. Murray (1919) — are in the public domain. You are free to read them, copy them, quote them, and use them in your own work without restriction.
The modern prose retelling of the Odyssey is an original work created by Knovella. It is made available for personal reading and study under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license. You may quote it with attribution. Commercial republication requires written permission — write to [email protected].
2. The app
Homer's Odyssey is licensed, not sold: using the app grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it on devices you own or control, in line with Apple's App Store or Google Play's standard end-user license terms.
Some content is available through in-app purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple's App Store and Google Play, and refunds are handled under their standard policies. If you need a hand, see our support page.
3. Third-party art
Some decorative icons in the app and on this website are from game-icons.net, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license. The Odyssey illustration and brand art are original works by Knovella.
4. What you can't do
- Republish our modern prose retelling commercially without permission.
- Scrape the app's content to populate a competing product or AI training dataset without permission.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or distribute modified versions of the app.
- Use the service to violate any law.
5. No warranty
Homer's Odyssey is provided "as is." We work hard to make the retelling accurate and the app stable, but we don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Don't use the app as your sole source for academic citations without verifying against a reference edition.
6. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Knovella is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Homer's Odyssey.
7. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Knovella is registered. Disputes will be resolved in that jurisdiction's courts unless otherwise required by consumer-protection law applicable to your location.
